Amel Larrieux - Make Me Whole

Darling I want you to listen
I stayed up all night, so I can get this thing right
And I don't think there's anything missing
Cause a person like you, made it easy to do
I've waited for so long, to sing to you this song

Cause your eyes are the windows to heaven
Your smile could heal a million souls
Your love completes my existence
You're the other half that makes me whole
You're the only other half that makes me whole

I think the angels are your brothers, yeah
They told you about me, said you're just what she needs
And I find myself thanking your mother
For giving birth to a saint
My spirit flies when I say your name
If there's one thing that's true
It's that I was born to love you

Cause your eyes are the windows to heaven
Your smile could heal a million souls
Your love completes my existence
You're the other half that makes me whole
You're the only other half that makes me whole

You make my dreams
Come true over and, over again
And I honestly truly believe
You and me are written in the stars
I live my whole life through
To giving thanks to you

Cause your eyes are the windows to heaven
Your smile could heal a million souls
Your love completes my existence
You're the other half that makes me whole
You're the only other half that makes me whole

Narcissistic People
Let me boost your ego
Believe that you’re enhanced
Civilized and so advanced
Superior in every way
Material worth, on it you prey
Display your earthly assets
Surely a required facet….
To your existence here on earth
Parading all of your net worth
Money, hoes and clothes
Now your a better person
The 20’s on your ride
Subwoofers, rappers cursing
Powerful, deserves respect
But to most it’s just suspect
Because I’d rather be inferior
Substandard in your eyes
Live my simple life,
While you descend into demise
I’d rather make a difference
An Infinite mark
For generations to come
A footprint of the past
In someway valuable to some
Let future civilization have some benefit
From something useful and productive
Unselfish to a fault
And never self destructive
Temporary gratification
breeds nothing but discontent
Use the time you have here
Your knowledge wisely spent
Approach the final destination
No regrets in hand
One day you’ll take a step
Your feet won’t touch the land
Immortality isn’t given
D-day will inevitably come
All your roc-a-wear ain’t coming
Cause your stripped naked
Before the SUN
No eternal life on earth
You’re defenseless when it arrives
You and I, identical duplicates
As we are eternally equalize

I've mentioned Iyaba's situation, and I am only alloted a little space by Misspoetology so I'll preach here. This past Wednesday, the 23rd was my little sister's birthday, and I don't think my mother would think it right for me not to mention her in a similar vein. Lil sis, (Khalilah Saleem) is a political prisoner in Cuba, I say political because if our politicians did their jobs she wouldn't be in the situation she's in. With that said happy birthday lil sis, we're all here with you in spirit.

Poem of the Day

A Blues 4 Nina,
Jill Henry

The voice, the sound, the cry
Did it penetrate u 2?
The words, the melody, the rhythm
Simply put...put a spell on u

Sometimes it ain't what u say
It's how u give it 2 me
Sometime it ain't how u see it
It's how u make me see

The strength that emanated from your presence
Is unprecedented
You were a chameleon of music
Iconic in womanhood
And a phenomenon of sistaship

I salute u queen
I curtsy to your legend
And bow b4 your impression
U have made that impression where it matters the most

Branded upon the heart
Affectionately and permanently branded upon this heart...

Nina Simone
Angel of the Morning

There'll be no strings to bind your hands
Not if my love can't bind your heart
And there's no need to take a stand
For it was I who chose to start

There is no need to take me home
I'm old enough to face the dawn
Just call me angel of the morning
Just touch my cheek before you leave me baby

Just call me angel of the morning
Slowly slowly turn away from me
Well maybe the sun's light will be dim
but it won't matter anyhow

If morning echo says we've sinned
Well, it was what I wanted now.
And if we're the victims of the night
I promise you I won't be blinded by light

Just call me angel
Touch my cheek before you leave me baby.
Just call me angel of the morning morning
Just touch my cheek before you leave me baby

Just call me angel of the morning (baby
Just touch my cheek before you leave me, baby)
Just call me angel of the morning
Slowly slowly turn away from me from me
From me

My Blues
When trying to shake MY BLUES, Please don't watch the News
Everywhere you see the clues, Headlines, top stories will knock you
off your shoes-This day in history somebody has paid their dues
Victims and Defendants is this what GOD intended? Tuning out vs.
Tuning in, somehow this world soon will end. Will IT get the best of
you? Well that all depends, on how you shake MY BLUES.
Try to shake them only to find yourself shaken, thought you had beat
IT and found out your soul had been taken? Could I be mistaken?
Lived high on the hog and got treated like the bacon. . .
Deep down inside your anger it boils, your frustration takes over,
your persona is spoiled-Soon no one can ever love you, because
you don't love yourself, and nothing can ever change that until
you realize your wealth. . .then it becomes hard to separate the
don'ts from the do's and somehow you can't visualize MY JOYS
from MY BLUES. MY JOYS are a new flower, bloomed and stretched
towards the sun, MY BLUES are stayed tuned to hear about a
young mother whose grief has begun. . .
Tell the world that you love them, today is just the right time,
MY BLUES are contagious and will take over your mind.
Turn off and Tune in My Joys are due to BEGIN.

This is going to hurt
like a power outage
during your abortion
hurt like a dinosaur
stuffed into a microchip
hurt like the 666
is now the American flag
hurt like the holocaust
was only a independent film
slavery was a block buster...
made billions for motherf#*kas
hurt like America
is a giant gas chamber
but Niggaz don't burn well
believe me they've tried
this is going to hurt like
the wolf ain't coming in sheep's clothing
the wolf is coming as a chain store
selling Fubu on UPN,
with a bucket of popcorn chicken
with a cross and a crack pipe
doing an info-mercial
on how to spread aids in Africa
this is going to hurt
like pulling a bowling ball
backwards through your dick
hurt like a urinary tract infection
in your tear ducts
don't cry motherf#*ka
this is going to hurt
like a blow job
from your sister
and your mom's coaching
hurt like the scent of your ancestor blood
caked unto the psyche of white America
hurt like the memory locked up in broken bones
the steel grin of starvation
the blood covered face in the window of colonialism
this is going to hurt
like a f#*k-you note
to the third world
like a 14 year old girl
giving birth to her brother
this is going to hurt
like a tight pair of Nikes
two sizes too small
crafted from the skull
of a Chinese sweat shop worker
This is going to hurt like
the world bank, the IMF
the center for disease control
hurt like free bibles to enslaved peoples.
hurt like your third eye in a glass of white milk
like the metal in your Aunk
was mined by oppressed Africans
this is going to hurt like
there is more racism and Apartheid in your
engagement diamond
than in all of South Africa
This is going to hurt like Reagan...
was playing president
like george www dat motherf#*ka
is also playing president
hurt like the conection between
the Opium trade and the world trade Center
hurt like a CIA base in the basement
of a Mickey D's in Brooklyn
trying to crack down on drugs
trying to stop the spread of aids
trying to make sure that the negroes
are doing well
this is going to hurt like that is a lie.
This is going to hurt like genocide
in our music
hurt being double crossed
and framed by Hip Hop
hurt like Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Algeria
Panama, Palestine, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Liberia, Lebanon
hurt like being double crossed
and framed by the CIA
hurt like Osama Bin Laden
lives in New Jersey
hurt like $200 billion
to build more war planes
hurt like a vegetarian at thanks giving dinner
and somebody forgot the dressing
hurt like the same bullet that kill
Medgar, Malcolm, Kennedy and King
was fire from the same vocal chord
hurt like 911
f#*k 911
this is going to hurt like
1492
1555
1619
1776
like 1865
this is going to hurt like
3/5
hurt like Japanese concentration camps
on American soil
hurt like the Tuskegee experiments
like small pox
like reservations
like the word Indian,
hurt like a nigga late for his own lynching
hurt simply because that's how karma works
America.
